Saltburn beach & pier: fabulous long beach with Victorian pier and the Saltburn cliff lift. 
Surf lessons (& also hire of boards and wetsuits, and stand up paddle boarding) at either Saltburn or Whitby Surf School at West Cliff Whitby 
Days out in Whitby – there are many attractions in Whitby, and it is well worth one or two days exploring the town with the Whitby Jet museum, Whitby Abbey and Museum; the traditional sweet shops; fish and chip shops; boats in the harbour and marina; Whitby Dracula train and museum and much more. Whitby hosts its famous Goth weekend twice a year in April and October. There are also many boat and fishing trips that depart from Whitby and also a micro-brewery serving a variety of traditional ales (the latter will do tours upon request). 
Falling Foss tea rooms: near Little Beck just south of Whitby for a magical (short) walk through woodland to this enchanting oasis with delicious cakes and other delicacies situated just above Falling Foss waterfall. For the more adventurous there is a path down to the falls and the water is perfect for wild swimming (if a bit cold). 
Bike hire at Trailways Cycle Hire at Hawsker – from here cycle up to Robin Hoods Bay and further onto Ravenscar. 
Beach days at Runswick Bay, Sandsend, or Saltburn all short car ride away. 
Take a trip on a steam train from Grosmont to Goathland or Pickering 
Learn navigation skills with AFS Mountaineering near the iconic Roseberry Topping 
Walk to the top of Roseberry Topping on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors for a view which will blow you away; or walk the Hole of Horcum another walk with breath taking views and lunch at the Horseshoe Inn (booking advised).

Learn bush craft skills, high ropes and survival with Valley Adventures in Saltburn (from aged 8 upwards)
