Days out in Whitby – there are many attractions in Whitby, and it is well worth one or two days exploring the town with the Whitby Jet museum, Whitby Abbey and Museum; the traditional sweet shops; fish and chip shops; boats in the harbour and marina; Whitby Dracula train and museum and much more. Whitby hosts its famous Goth weekend twice a year in April and October. There are also many boat and fishing trips that depart from Whitby and also a micro-brewery serving a variety of traditional ales (the latter will do tours upon request).
Falling Foss tea rooms: near Little Beck just south of Whitby for a magical (short) walk through woodland to this enchanting oasis with delicious cakes and other delicacies situated just above Falling Foss waterfall. For the more adventurous there is a path down to the falls and the water is perfect for wild swimming (if a bit cold).
Bike hire at Trailways Cycle Hire at Hawsker – from here cycle up to Robin Hoods Bay and further onto Ravenscar.
Beach days at Runswick Bay, Sandsend, or Saltburn all short car ride away.
